May I propose a toast? I have been a cheerleader for Heather Baird for a while now. With the May 1st release (for some of us even sooner!) of her brand new book, SprinkleBakes Dessert Recipes to Inspire Your Inner Artist , I had to get my pom-poms out.
To celebrate such a tremendous occasion, I thought that I MUST make something sweet for Heather which included sprinkles. This one is for the grown-ups, but I can attest that it's easily amended for your SprinkleBaker-In-Training with a minor adjustment. As you can see, it's non-alcoholic, kid tested, and mother approved!
She now calls "Candyland" the "SprinkleBakes Game". No lie. |
Replace the prosecco with a fun fizzy soda or juice-infused water like Izze Sparkling Pomegranate.
Pom Pom Prosecco Floats
- Creamy Pomegranate Ice Cream (recipe follows)
- Prosecco or other sparkling wine
- Pomegranate Juice (I love POM, of course)
- Sprinkles for the rim
- Corn Syrup
Carefully pour the pomegranate juice into the bottom of your glass, being careful not to disturb your festive rim. I filled mine about 1/5th full of juice. Take a spoon and gently rest the tip of the bowl inside the glass, creating a catch for the prosecco to slowly pour down the side of the glass. If you go slowly, it will "float" on the juice. Leave about 1/3 of your glass empty at the top. Carefully place a scoop of pomegranate ice cream atop and watch the celebration begin! FOAM!
I absolutely LOVE the surprise of the sprinkles' colors running up onto the foamy float.
Everywhere Sprinkles go, they leave a trail of happiness! |
*I cannot guarantee your tongue will stay pink. Prepare for Sprinkle-Tongue.
Creamy Pomegranate Ice Cream
Adapted from AllRecipes.com
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup whole milk
1 cup white sugar
1 cup pomegranate juice (I love POM)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
pinch of salt
Stir together cream, milk, and sugar until sugar is mostly dissolved. Add vanilla, pomegranate juice, and salt. Stir. Slowly pour into the ice cream maker per manufacturers instructions. Mine took a full 30 minutes to reach the perfect consistency. For more tips about making dreamy ice cream, check out my Chai Ice Cream post.
I really like the simplicity of this ice cream. No eggs, no cooking a custard...it serves perfectly in this float, or any other idea that inspires you.
Congratulations, Heather Baird! Your creativity, ingenuity, and hard work has come full circle! Thank you for inspiring so many of us to just try something different!

ReplyDeleteI have always loved making cakes and making them as pretty as possible, however I dont always have the best ideas behind them, so a year ago my big sister showed my heather's blog and I fell in love!! I haven't seen one thing i wouldn't love to make myself (if i had the time) - so every special occasion I have a go and me and my sister compare our tries with her beautiful photos. My favorite recipe has been the red velvet roulade, the best thing about this was I was able to edit the recipe slightly so it was milk free so my boyfriend could eat it! :) from a fellow loyal follower! :) Beth (froggy9009@hotmail.com)
ReplyDeleteHer creativity can turn the simplest recipe into a work of art. I love all her cake recipes on her blog, so it's really hard to choose, but definitely CAKE.
ReplyDeleteHard to pick just one favorite!! I discovered her on Pinterest and am now an avid follower! If I have to name a favorite then I would say Colorful Spiral Cookies. These cookies are so cute and colorful, perfect for a little girl's party!
ReplyDeletemy favorite sprinklebakes recipe is Heritage Red Velvet Cake
ReplyDeleteI have only been a Sprinklebakes fan for a couple of weeks, but I have been a sprinkles fan FOREVER!! I became a fan of hers when I saw her No Bake Strawberry Milk Cheesecake, I plan on making it for my birthday in a couple of weeks. (katiealice13@gmail.com)
ReplyDeleteI was just introduced to Heather's blog a week or two ago.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in a Southern family; the type where my grandpa, sister and I'd go pick apples in the backyard and my grandma would use them to bake a fresh apple pie and make homemade apple butter. So cooking and baking have always been a part of my life, but it has just become a bigger part since giving birth to my beautiful daughter last September.
I like experimenting in the kitchen and coming up with new ideas and recipes, which is why I love food blogs, especially dessert based ones like Heather's.
After looking through Heather's website in awe the past week, I think the first recipe I want to try that is already an instant favorite for me is the "Sparkling Champagne Cupcakes." They are just so beautiful and would work perfectly for any type of gathering with my girlfriends.
I firmly believe that baked goods are what keeps the world spinning 'round. I mean, com'on, who doesn't love a delicious, home-baked sweet treat?

The vanilla bean baby donuts are a total staple in my house!
ReplyDeleteI'm just dying to make the pink swirl cookies, but don't have a food processor. It's on my wish list. If I dont win the book, I still can't wait to purchase one!
ReplyDeleteI'm new to Sprinklebakes and just adore the No Bake Strawberry Milk Cheesecake.
ReplyDeleteI have made the Triple Salted Caramel Cupcakes several times! They're the best!
ReplyDeleteI love her creativity. I made her recipe for candy coal last Christmas and it was a huge hit with my family.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited about her book because I LOVE her blog! Not only do her recipes look delicious, but they have such a beautiful, magical look to them. I love how beautiful all of her creations are, and she takes amazing pictures! Her blog is one of my favorites :-)
ReplyDeleteI have the Sprinkle Bakes blog pinned to my web browser. It's the first place I go when looking for baking inspiration. I used her White Wedding Cake with Swiss Meringue Buttercream as the basis for my birthday cake. Yum!
ReplyDeleteoh my. My copy of Sprinklesbakes arrived on Friday and I cannot stop looking at it! SOOOOOOOO many amazing things to try and dream about trying. The Glittering Cookie Tree is a must! But I must say, that Southern Bombe is FASCINATING!!!! I want a slice so badly...guess I will have to make it. Would love a signed copy of this amazing book.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited for her new book because of all the inspiration I know it will give me! I get into the scientific side of baking too much, and I think her book is just what I need to delve deeper into creativity.
ReplyDeleteI love the uniqueness and beauty of all of the recipes. Yes, they are YUM, but what a conversation piece for when your girlfriends get together for Bunco, or for a baby shower, or housewarming party! These are sure to be a fun, flavorful hit!
ReplyDeleteThat drink looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite recipe of hers is the no-bake strawberry milk cheesecake. :)

I am so excited to see all of the beautiful pictures! She does amazing work and I love to see that captured in pictures!
ReplyDeleteThanks to SprinkleBakes I made my first gingerbread house entirely from scratch this past Christmas. It was a huge hit! The mocha swirl cookies were pretty good too.
ReplyDeleteI love every recipe Heather puts up on Sprinkle Bakes because everything she does looks beautiful. I seriously think she could give us a recipe for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and she'd make it look adorable :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Sprinkle Bakes! I've tried several of her recipes and have rave reviews from those who've eaten them as well as my own. The most recent was the "Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Devil's Food Cake Cheesecake" that I brought in to work for a coworker's 1st day/birthday. However, I think I'm going to chose one that I've not yet made (going out on a limb here...) because my daughter really wants me to make for her birthday, the "Chocolate Honey Cake". I can't wait to try the drink and get my hands on that super cookbook!

What I love most about SprinkleBakes recipes is how comfortable they are. Not everyone has a high level of experience or expertise. Not everyone knows how to find or use exotic ingredients. Heather takes ingredients we can all find and instructions we can all understand, and allows us to WOW and impress the people we love to bake for.

What a yummy looking float Heather.. Thanks for sharing the recipes! This is definitely a "must try".
ReplyDeleteI made SprinkleBakes "Champagne Cupcakes" for my daughters baby shower and they were a huge hit with everyone.. but I think my favorite is her "Salted Caramel Cupcakes".. I am somewhat of a cupcake fanatic.. lol
